A little history

Pacific Explorer, previously the Dawn Princess, was redesigned during 2016 to be part of the P&O Cruises Australia fleet, which is now at a total of 6 ships. Built by Fincantieri, the Italian ship building company in 1996 with her maiden voyage being in May of 1997. Pacific Explorer has now been completely revamped with a multi-million dollar refurbishment for its release in 2017, with fresh designs reflecting the best of modern Australian cruising.

Ship's design

Spacious, elegant and modern. The Pacific Explorer is coming in at 260 meters long, with 11 guest decks and a passenger capacity of 1998 guests. She weighs in at 77,441 gross tonnage making it quite a significant addition to the P&O fleet.  Pacific Explorer's décor will reflect modern Australia, combining elegance with relaxed comfort to create the striking contemporary look which has become a trademark of the P&O fleet.

On board Pacific Explorer

Pacific Explorer offers a great selection of staterooms. The majority come with twin beds that can be switched into a queen bed as required.

Whichever stateroom you choose, you are guaranteed all the amenities you'd expect while cruising including: air conditioning with personal controls, television, hair dryer, safety deposit box, telephone and fridge.

With regards to service, room stewards clean the staterooms during the day and early evening while you embark on other adventures and gourmet delights on the ship.

P&O Adventure Park

The popular P&O Edge Adventure Park will feature activities such as a flying fox, while those seeking a more relaxed pace will be able to head to the back deck for a cruisey game of barefoot bowls.

Kids only

Pacific Explorer has three on board children's zones packed with the coolest ways to entertain little ones through to teenagers. There are four supervised, age-specific Kid's Clubs: Turtle Cove for ages 3-6, Shark Shack for ages 7-10, HQ for ages 11-14, and HQ+ for the older kids aged 15-17. Younger children are entertained with educational games, toys, and other fun activities under full supervision. Older children aged 11-17 have their own lounge, where they can immerse themselves in the latest gaming technologies, music and films. They can also create their own short films and form music bands for special competitions.

After a full day of fun activities, your little ankle-biters can wind down with the Sleepyheads Storytime, a nightly event in Turtle Cove featuring a mix of traditional and new release stories plus a goodnight song.

While private in-room or one-on-one babysitting services are not provided, Turtle Cove and Shark Shack provide a group child minding service from 10.30pm to 1.00am for an extra charge. Well worth it for a kid-free night out!
