Carnival Legend

Carnival Legend

Carnival Legend is the newest addition to the Australian cruise scene and welcomes guests to a program of 8 and 12-day cruises out of Sydney to the Pacific Islands, featuring destinations throughout New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and New Zealand.

With a number of never-before-seen features and facilities for Australian cruisers, Carnival Cruise Lines promises you a legendary experience aboard this floating resort. Be ready for a carnival party that we guarantee you will be talking about for a long time to come!

A little history

Carnival Legend began service in 2001 and previously sailed out of the United States. Only as recently as September 2014, she joined her sister ship Carnival Spirit to serve the growing Australian demand for cruises, having undergone a $47million upgrade. You won’t fail to notice how everything has been splendidly refitted to suit Australian tastes. Whether it’s the entertainment, the gym, the many different restaurant menus, the BBQ’s, the vast casino or just the simple things like power points – everything has been considered to appeal to Australian couples and families.

Ship’s design

Carnival Legend is a beautiful mid-sized ship, so there’s plenty of space for every one of the 2,124 passengers to enjoy the many quality and fun entertainment options. The name says it all – Carnival Legend has a reputation for being a superliner filled with fun, entertainment and adventure. It proudly boasts a 9-deck atrium, 12 passenger decks and 16 lounges, not to mention its own amazing water park complete with the famous Green Thunder waterslide, which Carnival Cruises claims is the “fastest and steepest waterslide at sea”.

On Board Carnival Legend

Carnival Legend offers an impressive selection of spacious staterooms - all with individual climate control and wonderfully soft carpeting.

The sophisticated lightwood and soft pastel designs together with calm lighting will make you feel right at home. Each stateroom comes fully equipped with a flat-screen television, mini bar, safe, beach towels, hair dryer and bathrobes, together with ample provisions in your own private bathroom.

There are 20 different cabin categories to select from. With almost 80% of the staterooms being outside and 80% of those having private balconies, you won’t fail to find an option that satisfies all your cruising dreams. Meanwhile, the affordable interior staterooms are the perfect place to relax with your personalised climate control after an entertainment packed day.

Want to sail in style and treat your loved one to luxury and decadence? Carnival Legend offers two grades of suites, all with private balconies with a complement of chairs and tables. All the Junior and Vista Suites come with large lounge and sleeping areas, plus well-furnished bathrooms complete with twin washbasins, bidet and whirlpool bath.

For families, the ship has a number of interconnecting interior and balcony staterooms. So that’s one room for you. And one room for the kids.

Daytime fun

If you can be tempted away from the massive waterpark and its gigantic Green Thunder waterslide and pools, there’s a tremendous variety of onboard entertainment and activities. In fact, at last count, there are at least 45 fun-filled activities for families and couples to enjoy over 12 decks.

And if you feel like doing nothing at all, Carnival Legend has four whirlpools and four swimming pools, with three on the Lido Deck and one in the gym. So you can simply lie back in the water or on the shaded sunbeds and relax.

Chill Out, Work Out

Want to be in the open air, but need some time away from the kids? Out on the open deck you’ll find Carnival Legend’s childfree area, Serenity Retreat, complete with pool, day spa, sun lounges, sauna, steam room and bar. Simply lounge in a hammock with your piña colada and enjoy the 270-degree ocean view. Then ponder the difficult questions in life: will it be the sauna, steam room, pool or spa?

If it’s mother-daughter special memories you’re after, drop into the day spa for a little indulgence and treat yourself to facials, massages, pedicures and more.

In addition to the sports court and open-air jogging track, Carnival Legend features a massive fitness centre. Spanning more than 1,300 square metres, the two-level health centre features a newly refurbished gym with the latest equipment and stunning ocean views. Energetic cruisers can work up a sweat in one of the many aerobic classes before chilling out in the whirlpool in the middle of the room. What better way to ease those aching muscles?

Kids only

Swoosh, splash, laughter and more laughter! Carnival Legend is packed with fun activities for young cruisers, including the super waterpark, mini golf, and family games. You can add to this all the latest video games, dance parties and three amazing onboard kids clubs to suit all ages. The list of kids’ entertainment just goes on and on!

During the day, the top-deck WaterWorks park will keep kids and ‘big kids’ entertained for hours. You won’t want to miss the Green Thunder and Twister Slide, nor the Splashdown children’s racing waterslides, dual mini-racing slides, spray toys and drenching bucket or – as the kids call it – the “Power Drencher”.

Once you’ve dried off, the whole family can enjoy fun activities such as family karaoke, ‘Seuss at Sea’ and ‘Hasbro, the Game Show’, where guests become part of the show.

Carnival Legend also boasts a complimentary kids club, Camp Carnival. The activity zones and entertainment are specifically designed according to the age group: 2-5 years, 6-8 years and 9-11 years. Activities range from toys, arts and crafts for the littlest cruisers through to splashing pool parties and colourful scavenger hunts for the tweens.

The 12-14 year olds have their own club, called Circle C, where they can hang out with friends at late night movies and nighttime swim parties, play sports and challenge new-found friends at the latest video games. Meanwhile, the 15-17 year olds retreat to the exclusive Club 02, which comes complete with lounge areas, a state of the art dance floor, non-alcoholic bar, and plenty of stylish spots to relax, meet new friends and chat.

Entertainment by night

Dancing, shows, cocktails, poker, live music and games; with so many possibilities, the only problem you’ll have is deciding what to do first!

Let Carnival Legend host you in the 1600-seat theatre, The Playlist show. Spanning three decks, this dazzling theatre presents high quality production entertainment with live performances and cabaret acts backed by live bands and high tech-special effects. Afterwards, you can pop along to the Piano Bar and ask Sam to “Play it again”. Or “Trip the light Fandango” until the early hours in the Dance Club with live music. And if that hasn’t got your head spinning, get in the groove and “double time” in the Jazz Club.

And if you want to relax with live music, there’s always the island-themed watering hole, the RedFrog Pub, where passengers can enjoy a pint of its own homegrown specially crafted beer – the Thirsty Frog Summer Ale.

Feeling lucky? It’s time for the men to don their tuxedos, order the Martinis – shaken not stirred, of course – and join Lady Luck for a game of high stakes poker in the casino. Don’t worry if you forgot to pack your tuxedo, there’s no formal dress code in this casino.

Remember to pack your favourite outfits for the special theme nights and elegant events, when guests will get the opportunity to show off their glittering gowns and cocktail dresses.

Australian Cuisine

Carnival Legend has 4 restaurants and 16 bars and lounges, which means you are never at a loss for somewhere to enjoy beautiful food and meet new friends. Plus, all the on-board menus have been specially adapted to suit Australian tastes.

The Nouveau Restaurant is Carnival’s award-winning specialty restaurant where you’ll find prime dry-aged Australian beef, lobster tail, lamb, seafood and much more on the menu. Prepare yourself for a gourmet experience like no other.

Knowing the Australian love of seafood, Carnival Legend has introduced a new full-service sushi restaurant, Bonsai Sushi, offering Asian-inspired delicacies such as salmon, shrimp and assorted rolls along with popular beers and cocktails from the region.

For a more casual bite try the poolside grill where Fat Jimmy serves up tasty barbeque snacks such as burgers and hot dogs on the open deck.

Specialty coffee and patisserie are served at the European-Style Café, with hot coffee available at drink stations throughout the ship. And for the sweet-toothed guests, the Cherry on Top store is stacked with a colourful array of tempting sweet candy and delicious chocolates.

Everyday Conveniences

If you’re craving an adult-only night out, the ship offers babysitting services for a small per-hour charge. Alternatively you can let your kids stay with their friends and enjoy the ship’s Night Owl programs, available every night from 10pm to 1am for children aged 12 months to 11 years.

Carnival Legend also features an array of duty free shops, photo gallery, small library, card room, wedding chapel, conference room, and shore excursion desk. This ship offers a self-service laundry facilities and a hair and beauty salon to keep men, women and children looking their best for those special memories!

For those moments when you want to brag to your friends back on-shore, Carnival Legend provides satellite Internet access via an Internet Café (with PCs) and bow-to-stern WiFi network. Passengers can purchase time plans according to how many minutes they require, or can choose the Pay As You Go option.

In addition to the phone in each stateroom, the ship features an advanced roaming network so passengers can make and receive calls to their own mobile phone. International roaming charges apply.
