Seabourn Cruise Line has unveiled plans for not one but two new ultra-luxurious cruise ships. Here, we reveal five facts you need to know.
Seabourn Cruise Line knows luxury. Renowned for its flawless service, super-chic ships and inviting itineraries sailing to every continent except Antarctica, this Norwegian cruise company sets the bar for ultra-luxury cruising in an intimate setting.
And just when you thought Seabourn couldn't get anymore luxurious, it has announced plans of two new ships to join the fleet: Seabourn Encore and Seabourn Ovation. Seabourn Encore is scheduled to make her maiden cruise in late 2016. But avid cruisers have to wait until spring 2018 before they can Seabourn Ovation’s incredible features.
So while you’re waiting, here are 5 facts you need to know about the new ships:
Fact 1: Both ships will be part of Seabourn’s Odyssey class.
The two new ships will join Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Quest and Seabourn Sojourn in theOdyssey class of ultra-luxurious ships. Launched in 2009, the Odyssey fleet carries twice as many passengers as the older Seabourn ships and features more pools, hot tubs, and a double-deck spa.
Fact 2: But they will be bigger than the other Odyssey ships.
Weighing in at 40,350 tonnes each, both Seabourn Encore and Seabourn Ovation will be larger than their sister ships. With capacity to carry 604 passengers, they still promise the intimate cruise experience Seabourn is famous for – just with slightly more room. In fact, for each guest on board, there will close to one staff member providing highly personalised service.
Fact 3: Seabourn Ovation and Seabourn Encore introduce an extra deck.
Both new ships will feature one more deck than their 11-decked sister ships. What will the twelfth deck hold? Only time will tell…
Fact 4: The ships feature even more balconies.
Seabourn knows how to give cruise passengers what they want, which is exactly why Encore and Ovation provide enough all-balcony suites for more than 150 extra guests. In fact, on Seabourn Encore, every single suite will feature a private balcony.
Fact 5: They are designed by the crème de la crème
The ships’ interiors have been designed by Adam D. Tihany, an American interior designer and interior architect. He’s renowned as one of the world’s leading hospitality designers and has put his stamp on world-class projects such as The Beverley Hills Hotel, Four Seasons Resort Dubai andHolland America Line’s ms Koningsdam, to name but a few.
For Seabourn Encore, Tihany made special note of the fact that passengers make the ship their home for at least a week, as they explore exotic and far-flung destinations. Every part of the ship is designed around the understanding that guests are looking for novelty and distinctiveness, without any hint of the everyday.
