Want an invitation to try out your favourite cruise ship for a day? Well, that’s just what happened when a bunch of kids got the chance to step onboard Carnival Legend and test out all the new fun stuff. Here, the expert reviewers share their top 5 things not to miss.
Carnival Legend’s new Seuss At Sea
First stop is the whimsical and wonderful world of Seuss At Sea in the ship’s main dining room – where life-sized characters from Dr. Seuss fool around and skip between Dr. Seuss style decorated tables. You'll find Cats in Hats and Fish Red and Blue from the fantastical world of Dr. Seuss just ready to spring off the page into your breakfast time.
Gravity-defying stacks of pancakes
Be prepared for some pretty amazing and vibrant coloured concoctions to be served from the unique and fun breakfast and brunch menus. Thing 1 and Thing 2 waiters wearing bright blue wigs will dodge around tables, serving anything from Yoghurt Parfait Schlopp to Moose Juice and Truffula Tree Pancakes. For those less familiar with Dr. Seuss, the Truffula Tree pancake is a delicious gravity-defying stack of red and white pancakes that looks just like the Cat in The Hat’s striped hat. And the vivid lime coloured Green Eggs and Ham breakfast tastes just like normal yummy scrambled eggs!
But don’t worry mum, a classic breakfast is also available. Not that you'll have time to eat because you'll be too busy taking great photos of all the fun.
Seuss-a-palooza character parade
Ready for the parade? It’s a Seuss-a-palooza parade, which means lots of bell ringing and dancing around the ship with Sam I Am and the Cat in The Hat characters. “Oh, the places you'll go.”
There are also art and craft activities based on Dr. Seuss and the interactive Seuss-a-palooza Story Time set to bring your favourite Dr. Seuss books to life. Everyone can join in and participate in the Dr. Seuss stories in a special one-of-a-kind setting for a Seussational day!
New “Hasbro, The Game Show”
It’s time to play giant versions of family favourite games like Connect 4. Can you get ‘four in a row’ by throwing basketballs into a huge blue Connect 4 structure? It might take some practice!
The Fastest and the Wettest
It won’t be long before the whole family heads to the Carnival Waterworks Splash Zone to cool off. Start on Carnival’s Twister Waterslide for a ride that spirals down and down. It’s the fastest and wettest ride you've ever experienced. That’s until you get on the Green Thunder – the steepest and fastest waterslide at sea! You'll be swished around at 65 kilometres per hour in the free falling ride of your life.
The soggy – but soon dried out – kids didn't want to leave Carnival Legend. And can we blame them? After all, this was one free trial experience they won’t forget in a hurry!
Camp Carnival has lots of amazing activities designed for kids in three age groups: 2 to 5 years, 6 to 8 years, and 9 to 11 years. Check out Ozcruising for more details.
