Currently under construction in Italy and set to debut in March 2016, Carnival’s largest ever ship is expected to lure thousands of Australians to the Mediterranean next year.
Carnival Vista will be the largest ship in the cruise line's fleet, measuring 133,500 gross tons and holding 3,954 passengers – but it’s the vessel’s focus on incredible outdoor and family-friendly spaces that will really seal the deal for Australians interested in world-class European holidays.
Jennifer Vandekreeke, the line's vice president Australia, believes Carnival Vista is perfect for families – particularly given that Europe is the most popular long-haul cruise destination for Australians.
"When Carnival Vista begins cruising Europe next year, the destination will become even more attractive to families," said Vandekreeke. "Imagine sharing all the wonders of Croatia, Greece, Italy and France with your children with the ease of only unpacking once and no airports, train stations, hire cars or hotel rooms to worry about."
Family Friendly (With Stuff for Grown-Ups, Too)
Carnival Vista will feature more outdoor spaces than any other Carnival ship, to enhance the connection between cruisers and the ocean. It will also offer an incredible array of family-friendly spaces including the industry's first IMAX theatre, a 450-foot-plus-long water tube slide, a suspended open-air SkyRide, and a dedicated families-only zone with lounge and cabins.
That’s not to say Vista will be exclusively popular among families, though, with an on-board brewery, New England-inspired Seafood Shack, dance club, Punchliner Comedy Club, Presented by George Lopez, and wide selection of bars and restaurants included in plans.
Innovative Accommodation Offerings
Carnival Vista's Mediterranean itineraries will mark the return of Carnival to Europe for the first time in three years, and new accommodation categories – including Havana Cabanas with outdoor patios, hammocks and easy pool access – have been designed to appeal to newbie cruisers and seasoned sailors alike.
Vista’s Havana Cabanas feature private outdoor patios that face the Lanai promenade for easy access to the Havana Bar and Pool, which will be exclusive to Havana Cabana cabins during the day.
Located within a dedicated family zone, Family Harbour cabins will be available in deluxe ocean view, balcony and inside configurations, and will be designed to accommodate up to five people.
Where in the World Would You Like to Sail?
Carnival has released sailing dates through April 2017, debuting in May 2016 with 8 – 13-day Mediterranean sailings that will call on ports in Italy, France, Spain, Croatia and Turkey. The ship will then embark on a 13-night transatlantic crossing arriving in New York City, followed by a 10-night Eastern Caribbean cruise. It will then reposition from New York to Miami, and from there will sail a variety of Caribbean cruises starting from November.
